Clonbern showed why they topped the league with a hard fought win against a strong Glinsk side. In a contest that was always going to be close the game went to extra time but Clonbern managed to break the dead lock to take the league title ....more

23/10/2009 Glen Celtic (Senior) 0 Shiven 0
Glen Celtic continued their unbeaten run as they drew with Shiven Rovers in church st on Friday night. Playing 3 at the back and 3 up-front Celtic created a lot of chances but couldn't get the elusive winner.

18/10/2009 Glen Celtic (Senior) 4 Crumlin 2 (after extra time)
Glen Celtic continued their run in the FAI Junior Cup with a 4-2 win over Crumlin. On a wet and windy Sunday afternoon the home fans were treated to some fine football by two very sporting teams. Crumlin drew first blood as they took a 1-0 lead in the second half. However this seemed to more inspire the Celtic lads and not long after they drew level. Two more goals followed before full time to leave the sides 2-2 after normal time. In extra time and with improving conditions Glen Celtic proved to be the more determined as they ran out 4-2 winners.

11/10/09 - Senior team draw with St. Johns
Celtic had to settle for a point in round 6 of the Roscommon & District Football League. An incredible Fred Gannon goal (a volley from outside the box) gave Glen a 1-0 half time lead having been the better side in the first half. Both sides had chances in the second half but a most dubious penalty decision allowed St. Johns to grab a share of the spoils.

26/09/09 - U8's win Champions League
Both of Glen Celtic's U8 teams competed in the Blitz finals held in Glenamaddy last Saturday . The team in the Champions League won their semi-final against Ballingare 4-0 putting them through to the final against Castlerea. The second team lost out narrowly in the semi-final of the Europa Cup but put in a very promising performance. In the final of the Champions League Glen Celtic won 2-1 with the last kick of the game with Conor Raftery scoring the winner. Thomas O'Brien scored Celtic's other goal. Well done to all involved.

20/09/2009 - U14's win Divisional Cup Final
Glen Celtic 2 St John's Athletic 1
In another exciting final Glen Celtic took the honours with a very good display. Despite dominating the first half they found themselves a goal down after ten minutes of the second half. However an equaliser from Cathal Hynes plus a penalty from Cormac Raftery sealed the cup win for Celtic. Man of the Match was Glen Celtic's Michael Fox.  

19/09/2009 - Girls compete in Connacht U11 Finals in Milebush, Castlebar
Glen Celtic U11 girls gave a good account of themselves in the Connacht Finals on Saturday. In their first attempt they played a total of 5 games winning against Oranmore-Maree with goals from Caoimhe Keaveney & Eimear McHugh, drawing with Mervue with a goal from Nicola McHugh and losing to favourites Manulla, Strand Celtic and Dunmore. Well done to Bernie, Siobhan and all the girls on a great performance.

18/09/2009 - Seniors go to top of Table
Glen Celtic 1 Moylough 79FC 0
Celtic moved to the summit of the First Division with a hard fought but well deserved victory against neighbours Moylough 79FC. A penalty from Jason Fannon proved to be decisive.

17/09/2009 - U16's win exciting Divisional Cup Final
Glen Celtic U16's won the Divisional Cup Final last night beating neighbours Ballymoe F.C in an exciting affair. Gary Kelly opened the scoring for Glen Celtic with a well taken goal midway through the first half. Agonizingly Celtic conceded in injury time to force extra time. With the deadlock not broken the tie went to penalties with Cormac Raftery, Michael Fox, Keith Davis and Gary Kelly finding the net for Celtic and then Cormac Raftery topped a great display by saving two of the Ballymoe penalties to give the Cup to Celtic. Man of the Match was Anthony Comer. 

15/09/2009 - U12's complete double with Divisional Cup Win
Glen Celtic U12's completed a cup double beating Roscommon Lions in the Divisional Cup Final in a thrilling encounter which was eventually settled on penalties. For more on this result click here

14/09/2009 - Seniors now second from top
The Senior team had a 2-1 victory over Ahascragh yesterday which sees them go to second place on the league table. 12/09/2009 - U12's win Shield Cup Final
Glen Celtic U12's won the Shield Cup Final on Saturday with a dramatic 2-1 win versus Skyvalley Rovers in Shiven. Both goals were scored by Man of the Match Colm Fallon. For more on this result click here

09/09/2009 - U12's Qualify for Divisional Cup Final with thrilling 2-1 win after extra time against Dunmore last night - Scorers on the night were Jaro Placek in normal time and Damien Smith in extra time.

08/09/2009 - Seniors Remain unbeaten
Senior team drew with Castlerea Celtic on Friday last in their third game of the season. Having secured a draw with Ericsson Athlone and a win over Rahara Rovers they are currently in 4th spot with 5 points. They play away to Ahascragh on Sunday next (kick-off 2pm). 28/07/2009 - More Challenge games for Senior Team
Challenge game this evening (Tuesday June 28th) against the over 35s and another on Friday next against Ballaghadereen. Kick-off 8pm for both and all players need to sign and pay for registration

23/07/2009 - Challenge match for A team
There will be a challenge game tomorrow night (Friday June 24th) against the over 35s. Kick-off at 8pm. Registration forms available again on the night. There will be no B team this season so if you want to play you need to get down to training.

16/07/2009 - New Season for A and B team
The 2009/2010 season starts on August 9th and so it's time to start getting things together! Registration takes place next Tuesday night (July 21st) and we will have a bit of a kick-around on the night. Registration costs €40 (Students €30)

06/07/2009 - Under 12's through to Shield Final
Under 12's are playing U12 Shield Final next Sunday at 4pm in Shiven - get out and support the lads!
